Attorney Nathan J. Shafner of Groton, Connecticut has been selected to serve as the Chairman of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers’ Association Workers’ Compensation section for the upcoming year. Shafner, an equity partner at the Groton law office of Embry Neusner Arscott & Shafner, LLC, has been a stalwart contributor to the workers’ compensation community for over thirty years.
In accepting this role, Shafner said “CTLA’s mission is about making the legal system provide fairness and dignity, and a viable and functional workers’ compensation system furthers those goals. When properly executed, workers’ compensation provides a path for restoring an injured employee’s health so that they may continue working. For those who tragically will never reclaim their past ability, workers’ compensation offers ongoing assistance.”
Attorney Shafner has helped injured workers and their families nationwide, he is a frequent lecturer at seminars, has written on a variety of workers’ compensation topics, and has assisted in drafting proposed legislation. He has testified before the Connecticut legislature on many occasions regarding workers’ compensation and was appointed by Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland to serve on the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board. He is currently an active member of the Commission’s Legal Advisory Board.
Connecticut Trial Lawyers’ Association is a non-profit professional association dedicated to creating and maintaining a more just society by preserving individual rights within the justice system.
